What I love about this guy is that he gets right to the point with his explanation and story----no 'pussyfooting around' for 10 minutes saying that he's going to tell us something. Plus he tells us what the herb can do AND shows us what it looks like and doesn't charge us $50 dollars in the end for a bottle of it!
I disagree. He does delay.
@@richsandness5409 Yep...waffles on a bit
Yup he's great compared to 99% of YT channels.
@@richsandness5409 shut up idiot do you have severe ADD or what
And everyone piles in with the " lot of other things" weiiii know...
The Ojibiwe people of the mid-west have referred to it as "the great puller outer" because if you make a poultice with it and apply it overnight, it draws out infection and foreign objects. This little plant is part of the mint family and all mints are safe for consumption.
ohh that reminds me of Ms. Barbara O'Neills' onion poultice. She says it's good at drawing out infection too! Thanks for sharing that mint family is an all-edible btw. It got me thinking what other plant families are good.
@@weneedmoreconsideratepeopl4006 I didn't know that about onion poultice, nice!
Here's another goody about onions: While slicing bread at a restaurant I worked at, I cut my finger pretty badly and couldn't get it to stop bleeding. Another waitress I worked with used the filmy skin from an onion as a bandage on my finger and it totally stopped the bleeding.
When I got to the emergency room, the E.R. nurse asked where I got the "butterfly bandage" from, I told her it was an onion skin and she was amazed. Turns out not only did it work to stop the bleeding, but it also kept it from getting infected.
Dandelion stems work well to pull out poisons too. It is my go to when ever I have any run in's with bee's, wasps, or stinging nettles. Works amazingly well.
@@randallhesse5011how do you use dandilion stem for bee sting? just rub juice on it? Or press inside of stem on it in a bundle?
@@johnkelly9451 just split open the dandelion stem and rub the inside part of the stem on the bee or stinging nettle contact point to your skin.

@@gregdavis4857,

Praise to Him.
I'm glad that the knowledge of plants is being spread around again. I't was trying to be eradicated by modern synthetic drug makers. My co-worker had an earache last night and he was saying how he needed some amoxicillin and I thought of my Mullen plant in back that was flowing. Mullen oil for earaches. I'm learning. I'm going to keep my eyes open for Self Heal.
I heard years ago that some of the books on these herbal remedies from the old days were bought up and destroyed.
Same way Monsanto bought up antique seed sorting machines from farmers.
I am sorry I'm late Learn your Land, in case you still view your comments I want to let you know you are much appreciated. Your enthusiasm and knowledge are a blessing to us all. I am sure with all the craziness that is going on at this time there will be more people looking to nature for the answers to health. I love foraging it keeps me in the present time and aware of my surroundings. Now I have something else to look for bless you, flourish and prosper to all.
Ditto Rosemarie 👍
Learn Your Land videos= SO MUCH INFO IN SO LITTLE TIME. This guy does NOT Beat around the BUSH! He WEEDS through the research and LEAVES you knowing the ROOTS of a plants properties, and all the good DIRT that makes it unique and useful. Another great video here. Thank you! ❤️
God has provided all that we need.
That's what I think too !
Isn't it amazing!
He didn't have to. It all was growing out there already.
Amen, yes he did, and for every other living thing too. We should want for nothing.

This young man is the best for learning to homestead! You just got to learn your land !! Thank you Mr. Adam
Thanks for watching!
That was amazing, I learned so much so easily. Thank you for this. I recenty began to notice the tiny purple flowers all over what used to be my lawn, now a field of what most of us consider useless weeds. So happy to be learning otherwise. This video was such comprehensive and concise lesson on this plant. I will definitely be harvesting this from now on. 🥰
Love that you talk from the heart and experience... not reading from a script!
I absolutely love how you are seemingly genuine to help people,I'm learning so much from your content and want to thank you for this
What we are told are 'weeds', are turning out to be like God's little secret weapons for us
They're only weeds if someone doesn't want them growing in their lawn! I can say I had the Wu Flu for a long time. Couldn't get rid of a very deep cough till I started drinking a cup of hot water with self heal in the morning. My cough was gone in a week after having it for months
I appreciate your knowledge and the excitement with which you share it! So many of us know so little about the amazing properties of the plants with which God has blessed this globe and its people. Keep on sharing and thank you!
This guy really knows his stuff!!
I wish he would end all of his videos with how to best utilize the plants. How to prepare them for ingesting would really help!
There's an older book,i think out of print but available used online."The Herb Book" buy John Lust. It is the most thorough I have found.i have the paperback and carry it in a ziplock bag every time I go to parks or woods.
pattianne pascual thanks for the tip 😃.
He explains and shows how to with some edible foods
@7:16
He gave a rough idea about 7mins in. Bear in mind he's a nature guy, not a chef.
Vodka infusion is called Nastroika in Russian medicine. Medicine that is good for you ! Cheers from sunny Alberta!
I really like your channel. I learn so much from your short clips.
I recently found your channel. I have always been drawn to plants and knew there was more to this little one. I get so much from your videos. You knows LOTS. Did you go to college for botany? My mom used to walk the property every night after dinner and she would point out a plant, name it and tell me what it does. I never knew I was getting a lesson. One day not too long ago, a lady was asking everyone around a plant, 'what is that?' I knew. I didn't think about it, it just came out of my mouth. I really enjoy your videos. Please keep it up!
I have this plant growing in my lawn, often growing along with Purple dead nettle( that it resemble a little.) I will start harvesting it for teas and salads, thank you.
Wow, i am from Northeast India, Its very common here, i didn't know about it's medicinal properties. Thank you for this information.
You are the best plant presenter on RUclips.
My grandmother called this plant Hearts Ease. She made a tea with equal amounts of it and yarrow and dandelion leaves.
She lived in Northern Ireland. She was very into herbs but this is the only recipe that I remember.
Always fantastic as usual thank you much more appreciated than you know. Thank you again
Thank you dollin! Bless ya!
Nice, i had no idea! I love all the amazing info you give in your videos... this is a new one for me!! Thanks!!! Namaste!
I just found 3 different colored self heal in my new backyard, pink light purple and the usual darker purple, i didn't know there were thevother 2 colors, thanks for sharing your knowledge, Yah bless you!
Love your enthusiasm and positivity. It makes us happy to learn about wild edible plants. Thanks
I'm in Utah and am from Arizona and I'm pretty sure I've never seen this plant! Wish it grew here, sounds amazing
I was just looking at one of these...I'm familure with plant, but appreciate the knowledge...the one I saw the other day was definitely...look at me...look at me...they got my attention now!
I love self heal have plenty growing I use it for gum disease and it really helps 🙏
These are growing all around my mailbox. They're pretty so I let them grow.
Thanks for the information man it was quite informative of this wonderful herb. Just as a side note, I've always wondered why you yanks drop the h when pronouncing the word herb. I mean you don't say orse when pronouncing the word horse or eal when pronouncing the word heal so why do you pronounce the word herb as erb? I mean no disrespect and would appreciate an explanation in order to satisfy my curiosity. Thanks again and keep up the good work - Shine on.
Upbringing and personal choice for many? Almost like a colloquialism maybe?
Thank you. I love your smile.
Thank You Adam You are Awesome and Amazing. SHINE ON💯🌟💯
I have some plants that look like that in my back yard, only they are knee high and the flowers are a bit more pinkish. Maybe a close relative?
Great, informative video Adam. I am suprised I overlooked viewing this one until 2021.
SO helpful!! Thank you Adam. I will be doing something with this wonderful plant.
oh wow, now i need to look for this plant...Nice vid.
Dude, this is an exceptional video. Extremely informative. Thanks for sharing!
So here we have a very smart young man who tell people how they could use a plant they may have thought of as a weed to help improve their life. Oh, and he is not trying to swindle people out of their money.! Thanks for that. 😀💕
few inches tall? lol I have found it 2 foot tall before.... and before people jump on me saying it must have been a different plant. I happen to be a certified herbalist!
Please do a video about the subject
In central Texas, 12-18" tall.
Cool. Post some pictures.
It occasionally is found here in B.C., Canada very tall as well. Most common though is the short plant.
it's probably found small most of the time due to the habitat it colonizes being either partially shaded/routinely mowed
I love your science and explanations of self heal all of which are very interesting. It would be nice to see how you prepare this plant to help you in a practical way.
Never seen it around here (N. Arkansas) , but looks like henbit.
GREAT VID!! COULD YOU DO ONE ON LAMB'S QUARTER? THANKS!!
I picked some today
lambs quarters are a great plant. they are hardy and prolific.
Lady-T Survival That's an understatement where I live .

This guy is just amazing. How did he learn all this. It's like learning a different langugue
It's like the roots life of what is natural and real speaking through him. Despite all the likes and compliments he seems earnest, humble and pure, let's all try to get back to that, " the garden " Joni sings about, the religions say we were cast out of...whatever... we're only human...I believe this Adam is finding his way and loves good company who can appreciate the earth and its bounty as much as he does.
And unlike in "speaking in tongues" I can mostly follow him and the wisdom.👍
Tush me dear, well knock me down with a feather... I picked this plant yesterday for it's beauty!
Thanks! I’ve been wondering what this one was! I have it growing next to a few blueberry bushes.
Thanks I am going to go hunting for that today
Fantastic!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!

Great info, thanks so much!!!
I think I've seen this on canal tow paths in Birmingham UK.
Thank you !
I think I have/had this in my yard but I'm more interested in more common edibles and candidates for my toads tank. I need to learn more about the mints I can't smell(to make tea).
Please advise if there are any downsides to this plant. I would be taking it particularly for the anti arteriosclerosis properties....Can you take too much? Can I make it a daily part of my diet? Thank you for efforts and information!
Hmm.. going to add this stuff to my comfrey salve….
Excellent content!
my mom calls them 'heal all' or 'self heal' , that she learned from her books; as she's always loved flowers.. but i've never heard the 'all heal' one.. but i suppose its the same. lol. i usually have them in my field most every year. i never thought to taste one, but i heard they were used for a LOT of things.. maybe i'll go see if any is still left..
Brilliant thanks
I mean this in the most polite way possible, Evan Peters from American Horror Story definitely has some competition now. Brains & Beauty, WOW! Thank you for teaching me about the self healer plant I had no clue about until now. 💕😄💖👑😉🌞🌎🌈
that's great but can this plant be propagated?
Thank you
Got this growing six foot high in the garden and didn't know what it was.
I have never seen this plant
I'm looking for this plant I have gum disease thank you
Very informative and I am very interested as someone with SLE, CNS Lupus and a complete mannose Lectin Binding Immune Deficiency. I live in Alabama and spend a lot of time outdoors. I live in the midst of a swamp/wetland. I don’t recall ever coming across this plant in my area. Given the immune benefits and UV protection, which is essential for lupus patients, I am curious if it is found this far south in the US. Do you have any idea?
Lots of times Audabon or states themselves have flora, fauna etc., trail and region guides or maybe Rand McNally ? I have one for my state somewhere or I could say for sure. You're probably more technologically literate enough to search. Best Wishes !
This time of year ? When was that ? Generally good to NAME the season...
It is flowering now, but is at the end. It is mid June, western KY.
Eh thanks brother !! Appreciate the content!!!
What is the plant that looks like this orchid-like blossum but much lower to ground-like a ground cover?
Would you be referring to that bright yellow flower that grows in tight batches close to the ground... that I’ve been munching on whenever I see it..
I’ve been eating it since I was very young... One fine morning as we were taking a walk, my old grandmother pointed at it & said “”Eat it & you will do good in school!”” And the point to be made is that I skipped 7th grade & was directly promoted from 6th to 8th grade... Could be just a coincidence..or not!?
So I said the exact same thing to my grandkids, now I wait for time to reveal the facts..😊
Don’t really know if this is the plant you’re referring to or another that I may not have noticed..🤷♀️
Looks like what we call carpenters herb. Or would that be dead nettle? Both are edible and medical. And they all look like they are related to my perreniel Hysop.
Love your videos!
I have noticed a weed that fits the description except for the leaf shape. It isn't longer than it is wide. Maybe in time it will grow to be as the plant gets larger. I hope so. This stuff is everywhere right now. But I want to be positive, as there are apparently a lot of look alikes.
Found it along my driveway. Can it be dried in microwave, then crushed for a Herb tea? Will try to pot it and see if I can transplant to my new home.
Very cool man thanks I thought it was HenBit
My dear sister always told me to look out for wild things that flower purple/ blue. Because most herbs flower purple blue and have many benefits. I would love to know if that is really mostly true? I grow my own herbs and they DO flower blue/ purple!
Seeds for this are in your bird seed that you feed your parakeet.
It looks exactly like a lawn plant that I have (and I keep adding plants I find with slightly different colour variations, to my collection in the grass!), blue, or pink and sometimes white, that I know as 'ajuga' or 'bugleweed'. I could be wrong, but is this the same as your 'prunella vulgaris'?
Tabacco is wonderful to use as a antiseptic.
Now this young man just gave me hope in humanity of our future youth. Very, very smart. He has a great teaching ability. Shine on young man. God bless your future success.

Ive always thought the most amazing thing about these plants is that our " dim " ancestors knew enough about their properties ( before " science " )to give them names that would still help us after we'd lost our way.
Yes, inclusive communal knowledge before isolating, alienating and the bums rush by specialists in their " field" .
Sorry but the industries seem to be failing too many as well as the planet. JMO
I subscribed even though I don't live in the U.S.
You have a diminished knowledge. The names are recent. Eg Prunella vulgaris, busuioc de câmp, and a host of other names. Selfheal, or heal all, is a seventeenth century marketing ploy.
Oh, our ancestors must have been way smarter than us or they would never have survived.
@@christopherellis2663 seventeenth century was 1601 to 1700. That seems like a long time ago.
